Paul Johnson
Criminal District Attorney
Paul is a
graduate of the University of Houston School of
Law 1984. Paul was a Prosecutor in the Denton
County District Attorney's office for 15 years.
He was also in private practice for several
years which included family law, probate and
personal injury. He is a former prison guard
with the Texas Department of Corrections.

Jamie Beck
First Assistant District Attorney
Jamie graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in 1993, and soon thereafter joined the Denton County District Attorney's
Office as a new misdemeanor prosecutor. She worked her way up to the felony trial division before becoming the Chief Child Abuse Prosecutor in 1998.
Jamie left the office in January 2000, to open her own Criminal Defense Law Office. After winning the election in November 2006,
Paul Johnson asked Jamie to be the new First Assistant under his administration.

Tom Whitlock
Chief of the Felony Trial Division
Tom took his law degree from the University of Houston, Bates College of Law, in December, 1975.
In January 1976, Tom set up his one man law office in Denton where he practiced probate and criminal law for 26 years representing hundreds
of clients including the infamous serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas. In May 2002, Tom was appointed as the associate judge of the statutory probate court,
where he served for 41/2 years. Tom enjoyed the judgeship, but he could not pass up an opportunity to serve with and share the vision of the newly elected
Criminal District attorney, Paul Johnson. Tom's Credo: Never judge a person's success or failure by where he is today unless you know where he was yesterday.

Susan Piel
Chief of the Misdemeanor Trial Division
Susan was raised in Carrollton. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Baylor University and a Law degree from Texas Tech School of Law.
Susan began work as a prosecutor with the Denton County D.A.'s Office in 1996. She has worked in this office in the misdemeanor, felony and intake
divisions, served as Chief Family Violence prosecutor and is now Chief of the Misdemeanor Division.

Kim Gilles
Chief of the Civil Division
Kim graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in 1981 and joined the Dallas County District Attorney's Office as a
misdemeanor prosecutor that same year. She worked her way up through the Felony Trial and Career Criminal divisions before becoming the
chief of the Misdemeanor division in the late 1980s. Kim left the Dallas office in July 1989, but returned in January of 1994. She became
the chief of the Public Integrity and the Specialized Crime divisions before becoming the Administrative Attorney in December 1995. She
remained in this position until December 31, 2006 when she left Dallas to join Paul Johnson at the Denton County District Attorney's Office.
She currently serves as the Chief of the Civil Division.

Charles E. Orbison
Chief of the Appellate Division
Law is a third career for Charles E. Orbison. Before obtaining his law degree, he worked 27 years as a professional journalist and as a college instructor. When Charles became licensed to practice law in 1999, he went to work in the Appellate Division of the Denton County Criminal District Attorney's Office. In the years since, he has worked his way up through the ranks in the Appellate Division, from his first entry-level position to Chief of the division. Charles' claim to fame is his second cousin, Roy Orbison, a Texan who achieved major popularity in the music recording business with his four-octave range and haunting ballads.

Allison Sartin
Chief of the Family Law Division
After acquiring her B.B.A. degree from Baylor University, Allison graduated from Baylor University Law School in 1983 and
began practicing in a local law office that handled both civil and criminal matters in McLennan and surrounding counties.
Allison moved to the North Texas area in 1986 and began working for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office under Henry Wade in the
Juvenile Division handling misdemeanor and felony juvenile criminal cases, cases involving Child Protective Services, and Protective Orders.
Allison worked through the ranks to become a District Court Chief and remained at the District Attorney's Office until 1990; after taking a short
break to spend time with family, she returned to the Dallas District Attorney's Office until December, 1993. The new year brought a new career in
a civil litigation firm in North Dallas, but in 1995, Allison returned to the areas of law that captured her interest the most, criminal and family.
For the next 10 years, Allison's private practice focused on solving the problems most encountered by families in crisis through her family and criminal
practice, and an occasional civil lawsuit. In 2004 and 2005, Allison worked in the Denton County District Attorney's Office, but returned to her practice
in Dallas County in 2006. In 2007, Allison answered the call to serve as Family Law Division Chief in Denton County, bringing 22 years of experience to
the Denton County District Attorney's Office.

Michael Moore
Chief of the Intake Division
Michael is the Chief of the Intake / Grand Jury
Division. The Intake / Grand Jury Division
reviews criminal cases filed with the District
Attorney's Office for legal and factual
sufficiency and presents the appropriate cases
to grand jury. Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Business and Sociology from Trinity
University in San Antonio and a Law degree from
Texas Tech School of Law. Michael joined the
DA's office in 1995. He has previously worked in
the misdemeanor and felony trial divisions. Most
recently, Michael was Chief of the Child Abuse
Unit.

Rex George
Chief Investigator/Hot check administrator
Rex has over 20 years experience in law
enforcement and corporate security management
and has vast array of investigative experience
in criminal investigations to included property
crimes, crimes against persons, complex
financial crimes and fraud related offenses. He
currently holds the distinction of being a
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a Certified
Computer Examiner (CCE). He was awarded a
Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Texas
State University in 1983 and a Master's of Arts
in Business Organizational Management from
Dallas Baptist University in 2000. He also
served the D.A.'s Office as an investigator from
1995 to 1997.

Lou McCarroll
Director of Administration
Lou
started to work for Denton County in the
District Clerk's Office in 1973 and in 1984 went
to work for Judge Sam Houston, 211th District
Court as his Court Coordinator. From 1987 to
1989 was the Denton County District Clerk and in
1989 went to work for the District Judges as
their Sr. District Court Administrator. Lou went
to work for Paul Johnson in 2007.
