MINIMUM SALARY: $1,829.269 Bi-weekly
DUTIES:

Performs highly responsible administrative work coordinating and directing the County fire programs and assisting all qualifying municipalities under the County’s Interlocal Fire and E.M.S. Agreements.  Performs supervisory, administrative, management and specialized law enforcement work in supervising the operations of the following divisions:  Environmental Crimes Enforcement, Public Nuisance, Code Enforcement, Canine, and the Arson Task Force.  Work also involves supervising subordinate personnel, performing, and administrative functions to ensure adherence to department policies, procedures and regulations and preparing, reviewing and analyzing division records and reports to monitor operations.  Employee is also responsible for performing various personnel related functions such as scheduling work, granting time off, discipline employees, participating in hiring procedures, and conducting informal performance appraisals.  Duties also include conducting fie safety inspections and seeking abatement of fire hazards in unincorporated Denton County and municipalities without law enforcement personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree or 60 college hours preferred with 3 to 5 years of experience in fire, law enforcement or emergency response work, including investigative, administrative and program planning experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

Certification as a law enforcement officer by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. Certification as a fire/arson investigator by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Certification as a fire inspector by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Specific training in hazardous materials and incident command.  Hazardous Materials Technician certification preferred. Able to successfully complete the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Boating Skills and Seamanship Course within 12 months.  Complete the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Law Enforcement Division Marine Safety Enforcement Officer Course within 12 months. Completion of Improvised Explosive Devices Recognitions / Post Blast Investigation Course within 12 months. Completion of DEA Clandestine Laboratory State and Local Safety Certification School preferred. Certification as Hazardous Devices Technician preferred. Must have possession of, or obtain within 6 months, a valid technician level amateur radio license.  Possession of a valid Texas driver's license. Must reside within Denton County. Fire service experience preferred. Requires on call schedule.
